Bio

Timotheus M. Mellage was born in Benndorf, Germany on August 15, 1957. Youth and childhood were spent in North Carolina, USA.

With a Bachelor's Degree in Music Theory/Composition and Trumpet from ASU/North Carolina, he continued studies at Berklee College of Music, 1981-1983.

Due to a personal tragedy the artist decided to first create a woodworking-atelier in Boston, USA. He thus gradually developed a direction towards sculpting in exotic woods and paintings in combination of woodcuts with watercolors.

In 1992, Tim emigrated to Strasbourg, France where he opened an atelier specializing in design and crafting of furniture. In Paris since 1997, a new medium consisting of brass, silver and gold leaf evolved, characterizing the artist’s most recent pieces.

Tim is currently in the process of publishing a book, “Rapunzel as Myth, Rapunzel as Premonition” and pursuing his passion for singing and playing trumpet in the style of Chet Baker.
